KATERINA BARSUKOVA
Sand Artist
A graduate of the Roerich School of Fine Arts and the St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts, Katerina Barsukova
has been practicing in the technique of sand drawing for 11 years.
She is the winner of the International Sand Drawing Competition "The Touch-2015 and 2016" (Ukraine). In 2017, his work "Bach on the sand" with violinist Dmitri Makhtin won the Grand Prix.
A handful of sand comes to life with a few graceful gestures from Katerina. Her works performed live during the concert or the show are distinguished by the ingenuity of the drawings in the lyrical symbolism style. Her stage appeal and musicality ensure her success both with the audience and musicians with whom she works.

HOW IT WORKS ?
Katerina Barsukova creates most of her works LIVE during the concert or performance. The artist places a layer of sand on the light table and draws images following the music. These images are filmed by the camera fixed from above and projected onto a large screen. This technique allows the public to witness the instantaneous creation of the ephemeral visual work.
