À propos de l'événement
Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's symphonic suite "Scheherazade", based on Oriental themes, stands out among the significant works from the mid to late 19th century. During this period, Russian composers were particularly drawn to the mystique of the East. "Scheherazade" is based on the narrative from "One Thousand and One Nights", a collection of folk tales from India, Iran, and the Arab peoples, well-known since the 17th century. Rimsky-Korsakov was the first composer brave enough to adapt these tales, some of which were considered too bold or even brutal.
Katerina Barsukova will present a series of sand drawings accompanied by the State Symphony Orchestra of Thessaloniki, inspired by this mesmerizing music.
