This work recounts the exploits of Spartacus, the leader of the slave revolt against the Roman Empire. The ballet was composed in 1954 and widely acclaimed by Russian critics in 1956. The idea of writing on such a subject arose during the composer's trip to Rome in 1954. On April 23, spectators will see a unique sand animation performance on the majestic music of Aram Khatchaturian.
